The Process...A Moose's Tale.

Today's blog is a little different...
Time to work a larger piece.
I thought I would share a little
bit of the process.

First I must drive home...

Why did the moose cross the road?

Even after 30 years in Alaska,
it's still exciting when you run into a moose...  Actually better if you don't!

Back in the studio

And so the beginning of a

new painting.

It is most important to step back    and look at a distance.  It's really the only way to see the big picture.

And, although this is just a beginning with plenty of work ahead, I still must take my steps...
back... back... back...

Surprise!!!  I certainly was!

I'm not the only
one wanting
good look!!

Perhaps a better look in the window?

"Not getting in the house,
Maybe I can warm up in here?"

Once he found out that nobody was at home in the shed, this little guy wandered over to the neighbors to take a peek in their windows.

Well, it's late while I write this and dark.  But what was that thunk? That bump? Those sounds in the night?

Under the deep, dark starry sky,
In the deep, cold and cushioned snow.
He sets for the night,
outside my living room window.

  1. Wow, thank you Nancy - that's as real as it can be! I am cold for the moose!

  2. Nancy, this gives your version of "drive-by shooting" a whole new meaning! Is "double entendre" an appropriate term here? This reminds me to keep my camera at the ready.

  3. Isn't it fun to watch?! He's here sleeping again :)
To be sure everyone knows, drive by shootings are never done with a gun, always a cannon! Hmmm. Not sure if that translates the way I was thinking!
(By the way, did you know that you both are nearly neighbors!)
